Nollywood Actor Alexx Ekubo Passes Away at 40

Nollywood is in mourning today as reports circulate widely that popular actor, model, and entertainer Alexx Ekubo (born Alexx Ekubo-Okwaraeke) has passed away at the age of 40.
According to viral reports making rounds on Tuesday, the Nollywood actor reportedly died after battling an undisclosed illness in Lagos. However, as of the time of filing this report, there has been no official confirmation from his family or representatives regarding the tragic claims.
The rumours come months after concerns grew over the actor’s sudden disappearance from social media and public events, which had already left many fans worried about his wellbeing.

Ekubo had been largely absent from social media since late 2024, sparking concern and speculation among fans about his health. Various reports over the past year mentioned him dealing with an illness, with some unverified claims pointing to liver cancer or other complications.
Known for his roles in blockbuster Nollywood movies including Weekend Getaway, Bling Lagosians, and A Sunday Affair.
Born on April 10, 1986, in Nigeria, Ekubo rose to prominence as a versatile talent in the Nigerian film industry. He gained early recognition as the first runner-up at the 2010 Mr. Nigeria contest and built a successful career starring in numerous romantic comedies and dramas. Audiences loved him for his charm, good looks, and ability to deliver both light-hearted and emotionally deep performances.
