Queen Faces Expulsion from Benin Palace Over Unauthorized Peller Visit

Nigerian social media influencer and streamer Habeeb Hamzat Adelaja, known as Peller was involved in an incident with a Benin royal palace, leading to several actions.

On March 6, 2026, during a nationwide tour, Peller and his entourage entered the Palace of the Oba of Benin (Oba Ewuare II) in Benin City, Edo State, without proper authorization or protocol. 

Videos from the visit went viral, showing Peller interacting with a queen in the palace (including prostrating, receiving gifts, and possibly other casual or content-creation activities).

The Benin Traditional Council (BTC), the administrative body representing the Oba, issued an official statement (signed by Secretary Frank Irabor) condemning the event as a serious breach of protocol, desecration of the sacred palace, and a cause of embarrassment/disruption. 

A recent incident involving Peller and a royal palace in Benin has led to several actions. A palace chief has been suspended indefinitely for allegedly facilitating access. A staff member, reportedly named Mr. Omuemu, was detained and charged with aiding the breach. The queen involved is facing disciplinary proceedings, which could lead to her removal from the palace according to traditional customs. Peller has been summoned to appear before a committee of chiefs to apologize and explain himself, but hasn't complied, leading to warnings of potential legal action. 

The palace is emphasized as a revered, non-public institution-not a venue for casual visits, streaming, or content creation-governed by strict traditions.
