"I Lost My Mom This Year" - Kizz Daniel Reveals Real Reason Behind Music Break

Afrobeats star Kizz Daniel has finally revealed why he disappeared from the music scene for months this year, and it wasn't for an album.

The singer, whose real name is Oluwatobiloba Anidugbe, opened up on Friday, September 25th, while replying to a fan on X.

The fan @VicroyDominion1 had assumed his absence was because he was busy working on a new project, writing: "I guess the album really made you busy; you had to pause for a while."

Kizz Daniel quickly corrected him.

 "I paused for my Mom, not an album... Lost her this year, but I gotta keep moving for the rest of the family... sorry I came late this year".

The revelation has sparked an outpouring of condolences from fans and colleagues.

This is not the first major loss for the "Buga" crooner. His father died in 2015 and one of his triplets in 2021. In 2024, he also lost his mother-in-law to breast cancer. 

Fans had noticed his unusually quiet start to 2026. He was inactive on social media and did not release music in the first and second quarters of the year.
