Chidimma Adetshina Withdraws From South African Pageant

Miss South Africa Finalist, Chidimma Vanessa Adetshina has withdrawn from the pageant for her safety and that of her family after weeks of threats from South Africans.

The 23-year-old model made this known on social media, stating why she is withdrawing from the Miss South Africa 2024 competition.

This comes after the Department of Home Affairs confirmed that her mother likely committed identity theft of a South African woman.

Adetshina, finalist in the Miss SA competition, was born in Soweto, South Africa to a mother who is of Mozambican descent and Nigerian father.

She suffered rejection, threats and lots of criticisms online for days with many asking the organisers of the beauty pageant to disqualify her.

In a statement, Chidimma expressed her gratitude to everyone who has supported her on her Miss South Africa journey, citing the "amazing experience" she had as part of the competition.

However, for her safety, welfare and the wellbeing of her family, considering the threats thrown her, the Miss South Africa Finalist bows out of the competition, prioritizing what is more important to her.

"Being part of the Miss South Africa 2024 competition has been an amazing journey however, after much careful consideration, I have made the difficult decision to withdraw myself from the competition for the safety and wellbeing of my family and I."
