Reno Omokri Urges Federal Government To Regulate Bride Price
Popular Social media Influencer, Reno Omokri has urged the government to regulat bride price in the country.
Omokri explained what will happen if Nigerian government does not pass laws limiting the amount of money parents can demand as bride price and set limits on how much can be spent at events.
He injected words of caution in the post he shared on the microblogging platform X, stating that commercialised cultures in some parts of Nigeria will make the youth to go astray.

Omokri stated that some parents give their daughters to men involved in shady dealings, without questions asked, as long as they can afford the exorbitant bride prices they demand.
"If the Nigerian government does not pass laws limiting the amount of money parents can demand as bride price and set limits on how much can be spent on funerals, the over commercialised cultures in some parts of Nigeria will continue to lead a section of our youths into illicit activities such as drug trafficking, romance scams, and fraud. It starts at the family and community level.
Worship of money by communities makes young men feel that they are nothing if they do not have crazy money. And it is so sad. A young man suddenly makes overnight money, and the community asks no questions. Parents give their daughters to such men, no questions asked, as long as they can afford the exorbitant bride prices demanded by Industrial Money Obtainers and thereby feed the bad habits that have brought the green passport into disrepute!
And if this does not work, then perhaps we should start publishing a monthly list of all Nigerian drug traffickers arrested abroad and their states of origin. Maybe shame will make these states and their governments take action to curb these behaviours that are making life abroad difficult for all Nigerians."
