Tumeric is the rootstalk of tropical plant in the ginger family. It is the spice responsible for the yellow colour of curry. Tumeric has been used over thousand years in India and China as a spice and in the treatment of  conditions like stomach bloating, heartburn, depression,diarrhea, cold, fibromyalgia.Tumeric has a phytochemical component called curcumin. Curcumin is the main component of tumeric. This curcumin has potential healing properties, powerful anti-flammatory and antioxidant properties.


Tumeric whitens the teeth

Tumeric is good for whitening of teeth. This is due to its anti-flammatory property.  Despite it yellow colour, tumeric is used to whiten teeth.Tumeric can be added to coconut oil to whiten the teeth naturally. It also help to remove any bacterial infection present due to its antibacterial property.

 It has anti-bacterial properties therefore it can be used for treatment of ringworm and infected wounds. It also has antiseptic properties therefore it can be use in disinfecting cuts and burns.

Tumeric has antioxidant property which aids in the prevention and the inhibition of the growth of cancer cells in the body. It also help in preventing tumors. Since its rich in curcumin as an antioxidant. Tumeric help our body to neutralize free radicals and toxins.

 As a natural anti-flammatory with no side effects it can be applied on the skin to stop redness, soreness and the body been swollen after an infection or an injury. Therefore, tumeric is good for people suffering from arthritis, joint pain, and muscle pain.

 It aids in fat metabolism and good for weight reduction. This is been achieved by pressing the growth of adipose tissue  via antiangiogenic activity and modulation of  metabolism adipocytes. The curcumin and essential oil gotten the extract of tumeric is also helpful in reducing weight gain.

Good for removing body odour, this is because of its antibacterial and antiseptic properties. Also it aids in destroying the toxins that may bring about this offensive smell. The drinking of tumeric also cures body odour from the inside of one's body.

Tumeric can serve as a spice for food and drinks such as tea. As spice, add it to your food for flavour and for health benefits. It also give a nice colour to your food which is irresistible. As a tea, boil four cups of water and add one tablespoon of ground tumeric. Reduce to a simmer for 10-15minutes, strain the tea through a fine sieve into a cup, add honey and lemon.

Tumeric face mask

Tumeric is very good for the skin. It has a skin lightening properties that helps in reversing the effects of pigmentation. Tumeric will whiten and improve your skin if you can drink it as herb regularly. It also slows down the aging process.Tumeric can also be used as a face mask to remove spots, pimple and acne. There are many ingredients that can be mixed with tumeric such as honey, coconut, neem leave, baking soda, milk etc.

Tumeric with honey
Ingredient
1 tablespoon of tumeric
2 tablespoon of honey

Procedure
Mix tumeric and honey together, the mixture should be a thick paste.
Apply to affected area.
Wash your face after 10_15minutes.
