Dangote to Gift One-Third of His Fortune to Charity



Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, is making one of the biggest philanthropic pledges in African history.

According to a new revelation shared by the Dangote family, the billionaire industrialist has arranged for a significant portion of his fortune to go to charity after his death.

In a heartfelt revelation today, his daughter Halima Dangote confirmed that the family has united behind a plan to dedicate one-third of his wealth, potentially $11–12 billion to philanthropy through the Aliko Dangote Foundation

“This is how important it is to him,” Halima, a foundation trustee and executive at Dangote Industries, shared in an exclusive Bloomberg interview. 

She explained that the move, rooted in Islamic inheritance traditions, builds on her father’s earlier pledge of 25% of his personal wealth to the foundation. The family, including Dangote’s mother and his three daughters, have signed on, ensuring the giving continues across generations.
