This urgent appeal comes in the wake of a recent mass abduction of school children at St. Mary’s Primary and Secondary School in Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State, where over 200 pupils were kidnapped by armed bandits on Friday morning.
Atiku, in a statement issued via his official channels and shared on social media, described the incident as "yet another tragic reminder of Nigeria’s fragile security landscape."

He criticized the Tinubu administration for failing to implement "decisive and comprehensive action" despite repeated attacks, including kidnappings, banditry, and violent assaults across multiple regions.
Atiku's call adds to mounting pressure on the Tinubu government, which has faced criticism for perceived inaction on security despite increased defense budgets.
Opposition figures and civil society groups have echoed the demand, arguing that routine military operations are insufficient against organized banditry.
