Nnamdi Kanu Convicted of Terrorism Charges in Abuja Federal High Court

Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has been convicted on all seven terrorism counts by the Federal High Court in Abuja, Nigeria.
Justice James Omotosho delivered the judgment, stating that the prosecution had established each allegation beyond reasonable doubt.
The charges against Kanu include acts of terrorism, issuing threats to enforce illegal sit-at-home orders, membership and leadership of a proscribed organization, inciting the killing of security personnel, and making broadcasts that constitute terrorist acts.
The court ruled that Kanu's broadcasts, which threatened violence and instructed followers to take actions that could harm others, were terrorist acts. Kanu had been on trial since 2015, initially arrested on treasonable felony charges, and had jumped bail in 2017 before being rearrested in Kenya in 2021 and extradited to Nigeria.
