Veteran Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, popularly known as Omosexy, has recently shared the heartfelt origin of her iconic nickname in an interview on Naija FM.

Contrary to assumptions that it came from fans, the media, or her acting career, Omotola revealed that the name was personally given to her by her husband, Captain Matthew Ekeinde, whom she affectionately calls her "honey boy".

The story began when he surprised her with a Lincoln Navigator (a luxury SUV) as a gift. To make it even more special and personal, he customized the vehicle's license plate number to read "Omosexy".

That romantic gesture is how the nickname first emerged and eventually caught on publicly, becoming a beloved part of her brand and identity.

She recounted the moment during the interview when the host playfully asked about the name's source: “The name Omosexy. Who give you that name? Na we give you that name? Abi na you give yourself that name. Or na your cofamily give you am?”

Omotola responded:

“Na my honey boy give me that name… e buy me one Lincoln Navigator that time.. e put am for the plate number, you know, him write am there.”
