Iyabo Ojo Denies Payment for FAAN Praise, Addresses APC Backlash
Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has responded to recent online backlash after appearing in a promotional video for the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), where she praised upgrades at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
The video, which went viral last week, featured Ojo highlighting improvements such as expanded check-in areas, better lounges, indoor plants, charging stations, and overall transformations.
She expressed pride in the changes, saying something along the lines of being impressed and proud of her country.

This sparked controversy because of her past political positions as she was openly critical of the APC-led government during the 2020 #EndSARS protests and supported Peter Obi in the 2023 presidential election against Bola Tinubu. Some netizens, particularly APC supporters, accused her of hypocrisy, "begging for gigs" from a government she once opposed, or being paid for propaganda, while others questioned why FAAN chose her over consistently pro-government celebrities like Toyin Abraham.
FAAN's Managing Director, Olubunmi Kuku, also confirmed this on X (formerly Twitter), stating that Iyabo Ojo was not appointed as an ambassador nor awarded any paid gig.
It was simply a request to promote ongoing transformational initiatives during her shoot, with no payment involved.
