Denrele Edun Says “I Do” — Denrele Revives Wedding Plans, Keeps Bride Secret

Nigeria’s king of eccentric style, Denrele Edun, has the industry buzzing once more with three little words, “I do”.

The award-winning TV host and red carpet favorite has confirmed that his wedding plans are still very much alive, shutting down years of speculation that the whole thing was just a publicity stunt. 

In a chat with Saturday Beats, Denrele said the marriage was supposed to happen last year but got derailed after news leaked early.

“I was supposed to get married last year and I did not plan to publicise the whole affair, but somehow, the news leaked and there was too much media hype around it. At a point, it began to look as if I fabricated the story to be in the news but it was the real deal for me.” 

However, Denrele is keeping her identity under wraps for now.

“She used to be in the industry but quit because she could not come to terms with the industry so she decided to do a regular 9-5 job.”

“Relationship is all about communication, if anyone tries to change who I am, I would send the person back to her family house and collect my bride price back. Marriage would not change me.”

True to Denrele’s inclusive brand, he says the wedding won’t be a “strictly VIP” affair.

“I am going to get married in Nigeria. I would invite everybody who is interested in coming, they should come and watch me get married.”

Recall, Denrele has given mixed signals on marriage before. In 2021, he told The Nation and Punch_that he wasn’t interested in marriage, saying “I am currently dating myself” and that his mum even bought him a diamond ring to propose. More recently on The Moraya Show, he said he’s “not really been lucky with love” and chooses to “love myself at this point.”

“I am trying to pursue the matter but I am not going to say when it would happen. When it is time, people would get the invite but I would not blab.”
