Femi Dapson Reveals Father-in-Law’s Reaction After Surprising Wife with Male Strippers at Bridal Shower

Popular Nigerian music video producer Femi Dapson has opened up about the unexpected fallout from a bold surprise he planned for his wife, influencer Simi Sanya, at her bridal shower earlier this year.

Speaking in a recent interview with Chude Jideonwo on the With Chude show, Dapson explained that he hired male strippers who happened to be his friends to perform at the event. One of the performers had even modeled in his first music video. The producer said he wanted to avoid a “boring” traditional gesture.

“I surprised my wife with male strippers, who were my friends, at our bridal shower because I don’t like being boring. I don’t like the traditional way of just giving flowers,” Dapson shared.

“Who gave the rule that I just have to come with only flowers? I can just spice it up and shock all of you. I know it’s not her vibe, honestly. I just want to see that shock on her face. They were not even there for long. They just spent three minutes.” 

The moment, captured on video and widely shared online in March 2026, showed Simi and her friends reacting with a mix of shock and laughter as the performers appeared. 

Simi later admitted the surprise was funny but left her worried about her parents’ reaction, particularly because her father is a pastor. 

Dapson confirmed that his father-in-law, Pastor Olusanya, did reach out after learning about the stunt. “Her dad, who is a pastor, called me,” he said. His wife also reportedly told him to stop hiring strippers in the future. 

The couple, who later tied the knot in a star-studded ceremony, have shared lighthearted reflections on the incident. While the surprise generated plenty of online chatter and mixed reactions, Dapson framed it as a fun, short-lived way to create an unforgettable memory rather than a conventional bridal shower gift.
