A 32-year-old pregnant woman was kicked to death in Ebonyi State

A 32-year-old pregnant woman has been confirmed dead after being killed by another woman, 34-year-old Florence Ugwu kicked the pregnant at  Okwo Ngbo market in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

The pregnant woman identified as Jane Ekpe who was about 6 months pregnant was reportedly kicked by Ugwu on the stomach following an a quarrel between them at the market on July 11. This caused the pregnant Ekpe to start bleeding profusely and was rushed to the hospital where she was delivered of a premature baby and later died.

Loveth Odah, Ebonyi State police spokesperson confirmed the incident and also revealed that the Commissioner of Police, Philip Sule Maku has ordered an immediate investigation into the incident.

Odah said, "One Chief Bartholomew Ekpe regent of Umeueze Oka Ngbo reported at Ohaukwu Division that on 11 July 2020 by 1pm while they were at Okwo market his daughter Jane Ekpe age 32 who was was about 6 months pregnant was killed on her stomach by one Florence Ugwu aged 34 over an undisclosed argument."

"He stated that his daughter started bleeding profusely and was rushed to the hospital where she was delivered of the premature baby and she gave up the ghost."
