EFCC docks social media influencer "Adeherself" for possession of fraudulent documents



Nigerian social media influencer Adedamola Adewale Rukayat, known as "Adeherself" has been arraigned by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) before Justice Sherifat Solebo of the special offence court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos on a one-count charge of being in a possession of fraudulent documents.

The defendant was arrested by the commission following information received on the activities of some young men allegedly involvement in cyber fraud in Lekki axis of Lagos State.



The count read: That you, Adedamola Adewale Rukayat on or about the 15th day of June, 2020 in Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this honorable court, with intent to defraud, had in your possession documents titled "WhatsApp" . While representation you knew or ought to have known, was false and thereby committed an offence contract to section 6(8)(B) and 1(3)(d) of the Advance Fee Fraud and other Fraud Related Offences act No. 14 of 2006.

The face model pleaded not guilty to the charge. S.O Daji, the prosecution counsel asked the court for a trial date and also prayed that Adewale Rukayat be remanded in the custody of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS), this was in view of her plead.

The matter was adjourned to July 13, 2020 by Justice Solebo for hearing of the bail application and ordered the defendant to be remanded in the custody of EFCC.
