"I'm My Own Competition" - Toyin Abraham Speaks On Competition With Funke Akindele

Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has finally reacted to the claims of being in a competition with senior colleague Funke Akindele. All that she's interested is that she's better than what she was last year and that's the ultimate.

An Instagram blogger has alleged that Funke Akindele has repeatedly refused to associate with Toyin Abraham.

The blogger wrote,

"To be fair, maybe some elders need to call Funke and Toyin and amend whatever is codedly brewing."

"I’m a huge fan of both. I support anything Toyin or Funke especially Funke. Funke says Scene one, we are there. Funke shouts Netflix omo, I don land grab front seat. Funke says cinema, I will pay and pay for friends and close instafams. I don’t even think about contents so long as it’s Funke.

But my dear Funke needs to check some of her attitudes and especially the things she says to ppl about others, especially her colleagues.

"There is a very 100% authentic gist of Funke telling a famous stylist that she, Funke will stop working with her if she dares style Toyin. Guess what, the Stylist spread the gist like wildfire when Funke at a point gave her one of her gbas Gbos attitudes [even though the stylist was at fault]. From our sources, Toyin heard of it and she practically wept cuz she claims she has no problems at all with Funke.

"Another occasion was when there was a movie project that the “famous producer” wanted to cast both Funke and Toyin. Funke was alleged to have told the producer that if you cast Toyin, I ain’t going to be on this project.

"Wow! . Guess what? From Funke’s mouth to producer’s ears and then from Producer’s mouth eventually to Toyin and everyone’s ears including bloggers.

"These are few real life situations which happened and it’s not healthy. It’s really heartbreaking to see Funke always pointed in the wrong in all these. Especially for some of us who are fans of her act.

For some time now, Nollywood actress Funke Akindele and her colleague Toyin Abraham have been at war over unknown issues to their fans.

The beef between them became glaring after fans noticed she always shuns her during birthday celebrations and does not like to associate with her or those close to her.

Funke Akindele also surprised many movie lovers after she chose to premiere her movie ‘Omo Ghetto the Saga’ the same day Toyin Abraham’s movie ‘Ghost and the Tout’ started showing in cinemas across Nigeria.

This clash left many fans of both actresses in confusion and the choice they should make.

The blogger alleged that Funke Akindele had on one occasion threatened to stop working with a popular stylist if she dared to style Toyin Abraham.

This came to the knowledge of Toyin Abraham, and she cried, saying she has no problem with Funke Akindele or beefing her for any reason.

Toyin wrote,

"I don’t care who is doing better than me, I was doing better than I was last year” Toyin posted on Instagram moments ago."

“Fam! Happy Monday! Trust we all had a good weekend? I had the most fantastic one! Guess what fam! I beat my last opening record!!!

I’m coming o, just chill small, I’ll soon give you the full gist, but reports reaching me is that the performance this weekend is almost 2x or my previous movie (Fate of Alakada)

Anyways, before I go, today is a great day to achieve your own dreams! Never give up and have a blessed day. Don’t forget to go and watch The Ghost and the Tout TOO! Showing across ALL cinemas in Nigeria! #IAmMyOwnCompetition #OpeNiFOluwa”

The rivalry became intense over the weekend when Iyabo Ojo accused Funke Akindele of paying a popular movie critic to run down Toyin Abraham’s movie.

“Not Recommended for intelligent people. Over the years, we have told you many truths but non Greater than this: Intelligent minds were not taken into consideration at all in the writing and in the making of ‘Ghost and The Tout Too‘.

Thusly, intelligent minds will not enjoy it at all.

Regardless of how flagrantly it copycats off ‘Ómó Ghetto: The Saga’ desperately hoping to shine like it. Unlike that one ‘The Ghost and The Tout Too’ doesn’t understand that movie-making is rooted in brain-work and not in using cinema to do “Yahoo”, abusing stardoms to fleece fandoms."

"If you are intelligent, you are better off staying back home this weekend to watch ‘Ómó Ghetto: The Saga,” part of the critic’s review read.

Iyaba Ojo who frown at the review of the so-called critic went to the comment section of the critic’s Instagram page with. Maybe you might not have said everything but you saying 1 can be switched up to you saying 100. The sky they say is big enough for all. Stay blessed and hopefully you don’t get upset but have a reflection. Don’t hold on to grudges my darling. Have a fabulous day.

I don’t care who is doing better than me, I was doing better than I was last year” Toyin posted on Instagram the review of Toyin Abraham’s new movie.

“How much did Funke pay you to write this rubbish? The day she begins to find ways not to talk to bad about her fellow colleagues or discredit their work or personality, that day she will begin to experience inner peace,” Iyabo Ojo wrote.
