Nigerian singer, Adedamola Oyinlola
Adefolahan popularly known as Fireboy DML, has revealed he was on the verge of becoming a petty trader before he was signed to YBNL Nation by rapper and music executive Olamide.

As a BSc holder in English from Obafemi Awolowo University, Fireboy had to make a choice between pursuing a conventional career and following his passion for music.

Fireboy mentioned that he was considering starting a business selling rechargeable lamps after meeting someone under Ajah Bridge who was telling him about the opportunity.

Fortunately, his talent was discovered by Olamide, who saw his potential and offered him a record deal. This opportunity marked the beginning of Fireboy's successful music career, which has since taken him to great heights, including collaborations with international artists like Ed Sheeran and Justin Timberlake.

“Thank God for that [Olamide signing me]. I was considering selling rechargeable lamps. I met one guy under Ajah Bridge, he was telling me about the business and I told him I was interested.

“To me, at the time, it was more dignified. At least, people will sell you a lamp seller but selling pepper soup is crazy, bro. My parents didn’t know I was doing menial jobs. It was crazy but now, we thank God.”
