Nigerian Cancer Society Demands Full Probe into Blessing CEO Over Alleged Fake Cancer Claims and Fundraising

The Nigerian Cancer Society (NCS) has publicly called for a full investigation into social media personality Blessing Okoro, known as Blessing CEO, over allegations that she made false claims about having stage 4 breast cancer to solicit donations from the public. 

NCS Statement and ActionsIn a statement released on April 7, 2026, NCS spokesperson Bashir Mohammed condemned the alleged conduct as unethical. He explained how such actions can erode public trust in genuine cancer appeals and discourage support for real patients. 

Blessing CEO, a self-described relationship expert and influencer, announced some days ago that she had been diagnosed with advanced breast cancer.

She shared what appeared to be a medical report and appealed for financial help for treatment, including surgery and related costs. Many Nigerians responded with donations, reportedly totaling around ₦13 million according to her later statements, though some  rumors suggested higher figures. 

Subsequent scrutiny revealed serious issues that the medical report she presented was allegedly doctored and originally belonged to another woman, Deborah Mbara, a cancer survivor who has publicly accused Blessing CEO of misusing her document without consent. 

The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Delta State branch, confirmed that the report was altered and did not pertain to Blessing CEO.
