Skales Recalls Praying for Deliverance at 15 in Kaduna Zinc Toilet

 

Nigerian singer and songwriter Skales got emotional during a recent interview after a painful memory took him back to where it all started.

The "Shake Body" hitmaker revealed that he broke down in tears while remembering a moment from his teenage years. At age 15, Skales said he knelt down in the zinc toilet at Marafa Shopping Complex in Kaduna and prayed to God to help him and his mother come out of poverty. He also prayed for the chance to travel the world.

According to Skales, that prayer was answered.  

"I have been living my answered prayers since age 16," he shared, visibly emotional.

The candid moment has since gone viral, with fans praising the singer for his honesty and resilience. Many took to social media to celebrate his journey from humble beginnings in Kaduna to becoming one of Nigeria’s most recognizable voices in Afrobeats.

Skales first rose to prominence in the early 2010s and has since performed on international stages, a far cry from the zinc toilet where he once poured out his heart in prayer.
