Olubunmi Akintomiwa Lasaki popularly known as Bunmi Lasaki was born in 1961 in Ibadan. He hails from Ogun State in Western Nigeria. He joined the Abayomi Barber School in 1980, an informal Art school that is anchored on the philosophy of realism and surrealim genre of Art.This was immediately after his secondary education at the Premier College Yaba Lagos. He graduated from Yaba College of Technology in 1987 with a Higher National Diploma (HND sculpture).

Career
He has been in studio practice for well over four decades (40years), sharing his early days between his practice and civil service engagement within the period (1980_2004). However, he went into full time studio practice 15years running.
Inspiration
His source of inspiration is the Art in him and the drive to deliver what nature provides. Because in every second of our existence, nature is always communicating. The plant, wind are communicating to man. Therefore, as an artist, it's my duty to hear, see, understand and capture document and communicate to man.

That one day Art will be accorded adequate recognition as bestowed by nature and for Nigerians to embrace, appreciate and value Art.
That one day true and passionate Artist contributions to National social, economical and political development will be allowed to impact our national evolution.
On the upcoming Artists, he hopes/encourages enough patience to learn the rudiments of the profession.
He urged fellow colleagues to always work or seek to compliment each other for the overall development, growth and value of the profession.
