The first Art Work in Nigeria

Point of view takes a broad look at museum, tourism and Urban, organized by the Ben Enwonwu Foundation in collaboration with the Society of Nigeria Artists and supported by Alliance Franchise Lagos/ Mike Adenuga Centre which took place on Friday November 22, 2019.


The aim of Point of View is to encourage support and funding for the visual arts through the partnership of the private and public sector while artist's professional development and employment is ensured.

The presenters are Jess Castellote  the Director of Yemisi Shyllon Museum of Art, Seun Oduwole Principal Architect, Jumoke Adenowo the Principal Partner of AD Consulting, Tosin Osinowo the Director of cmDesign Atelier (cmD+A), Omotayo Adeboye a curator at the National Museum Lagos and Aderenle Sanariwo the founder of Rele Art Gallery and a Consultant at Arts and Tourism Ogun.

Issues discussed include improvement, preservation and conservation of the museum, the challenges faced, the investment opportunities and development and destination marketing.

Seun Oduwole narrated the history of Lagos, and the genesis of The J.K. Randle Centre. With a presentation on The J.K. Randle Centre for Yoruba History and culture, pool and Arcade  in regard to tourism and destination marketing. And the prospects and the opportunities for the future.

"A museum serves as a locus of insemination where minds pollinate a catalyse vision to full bloom," Jumoke Adenowo said.

She  she further said that a museum should be a Gesamtkunstwerk
*Total Theatre
*An Immersion by way.

It should also be a remedy, redress, restore, rediscovered, redeem, revive, Renaissance and reverberate.
A museum should be a celebration of who we were, who we are and will be.

"Point of View is a platform for discussed to encourage both the public and private sectors to invest and for Artist to develop themselves professionally," Oliver Enwonwu the SNA President told Goldypages.

Point of view which was organized by The Ben Enwonwu Foundation (BEF), established in 2003 in honor of the renowned Nigerian Artist, professor Benedict Chukwukadibia Enwonwu MBE, NNOM (1917_94).  The aim of the foundation is to sustain and build on his and works by which he integrated the the Western techniques and indigenous traditions of the  Nigerian contemporary art.

Presently, The Ben Enwonwu Foundation is involved in a lot of projects, publishing a catalogue raisonne of Enwonwu's works, his autobiography, lectures and writing on contemporary Africa art.
