Scent Of Eden By Luke Osaro

 

Luke Osaro is a contemporary artist whose works is highly sought for because of the uniqueness that belongs only to him. No wonder, collectors and art lovers appreciate and love his works.

Luke is from Edo State, he was born and grew in Lagos State. He graduated from the prestigious  Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife Osun state in 2004 with a Bachelor Degree in Fine Art ( B.A).

The solo exhibition which opens Sunday, December 12 at OM's Flat, Sanusi Fafunwa Street, Victoria Island, Lagos is displaying 19 sculptures, first of it kinds, all bronze.

This is coming at a point when Nigerian are clamouring for the return of Benin bronze which were looted by the British soldiers in 1897 during punitive expedition in the empire.

The exhibition titled 'Scent Of Eden' with the powerful of after creation of man. Eden surely ring a bell. What is symbolic about the first woman, 'Eve', on earth.

This artist has redefined art and given it another meaning. He uses his works to speak to the heart of people differently to people.

The Scent of Eden one of the artwork tells a powerful story of  what happened after God drove man out of the the garden of Eden. With a flower in her hands, she carried a sorrowful face and sad countenance regretting the lost glory, privileges and opportunities. Leaving all those behind to a new life of struggle and hardship. But certainly she must survive.

Being encouraged by his parents to be free to do what one wants to be. Not the type to compel their children to do what they had in mind for them. Luke Osaro is inspired by his parents mindset and their support.

During his childhood, the artist would be drawing on the ground, produce school bags, they supported his passion.

The exhibition is in compliance with the covid-19 protocol. All the people interested about coming to the exhibition are made to book ahead to avoid overcrowding. The exhibition which will be for six weeks runs till January 21.
