Ex-Presidential Aide Doyin Okupe Passes Away at 72

Doyin Okupe, a former presidential spokesperson and prominent Nigerian politician, has passed away at the age of 72.

His death was confirmed on Friday, March 7, 2025, with reports indicating he had been battling a serious illness, suspected to be cancer, for some time. 

Okupe, a medical doctor by training, served as a spokesperson for former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan and was the Director-General of Peter Obi’s 2023 presidential campaign until he stepped down following a money laundering conviction.
