In the video, he fought back tears while speaking about the loss of his two close friends and longtime team members, Latif "Latz" Ayodele (his personal trainer) and Sina Ghami (his strength and conditioning/recovery coach).
They were childhood friends who had been with him for years, described by Joshua as "brothers" and "major players" in his life. He and the two men were passengers in an SUV that collided with a stationary truck near Lagos; Joshua escaped with minor injuries and was hospitalized briefly, but Latz and Sina tragically died at the scene (both aged 36).

In the video, he visibly fought back tears while speaking directly to the camera, reflecting on the tragedy, expressing gratitude for public support, honoring his "brothers," and sharing his mindset on life, death, and moving forward. He described them as integral parts of his life, his "left and right," childhood friends, and key figures who helped shape his career and character.
He vowed to support their families, help fulfill their dreams, and do right by them, stating, "I’ll be helping them fulfill their dreams. I’ll do right by them and their families." He emphasized, "The mission must go on," while acknowledging the pain: "It's tough for me, but I know it's even tougher for their parents."
