"I Don’t Know What Came Over Her" – Kate Henshaw Opens Up on Falling Out With Genevieve Nnaji

Veteran actress Kate Henshaw has opened up about the evolution of her relationship with fellow Nollywood icon Genevieve Nnaji, revealing that their once-tight bond faded over time, leaving her puzzled about what went wrong.

In a recent episode of the Tea with Tay podcast, Henshaw reflected candidly on the drift between her and Nnaji. The two actresses were reportedly close during the early days of Netflix's entry into Nigeria, often attending events together. However, a noticeable gap emerged. 

“We grew apart. Maybe she had some kind of mistrust about me. I really don’t know what happened. I don’t know what came over her,” Henshaw said. 

Henshaw noted that despite the distance, the pair later crossed paths during a Netflix project shoot in South Africa, where Nnaji was pleasant and even checked in on others. She likened changing friendships to seasons in life, comparing people to roots, branches, or leaves that naturally fall away. 

This isn't the first time Henshaw has addressed the dynamic. In earlier interviews, including one from 2023, she described how Nnaji sometimes "pulls away," leaving others wondering if they've done something wrong. She emphasized her admiration for Nnaji while accepting that some friendships evolve or fade. 

Genevieve Nnaji, known for her private nature, has not publicly commented on the matter. The two stars have shared the screen in several projects over the years and were once seen as part of Nollywood's elite circle.

Fans have taken to social media with mixed reactions, some expressing disappointment over the apparent fallout, while others respect the actresses' privacy and note that personal relationships in the spotlight often shift.
