Rita Edochie Slams Judy Austin Over ‘Paid to Destroy My Home’ Claim
Veteran actress Rita Edochie has clapped back at Judy Austin after the actress alleged that her ex-husband, Mr Emmanuel Obasi, was paid to ruin her marriage to Yul Edochie.
In a video posted to Instagram, Judy Austin vowed legal action against Obasi, claiming “someone paid him to come and destroy my name” and insisting she met Yul Edochie three years after her marriage ended. She denied dating Yul while married, calling Obasi’s interview claims “lies”.
Rita Edochie fired back on Instagram, questioning Judy’s definition of “home.”

“Did I hear they paid Mr Obasi to scatter her home? Please, which home exactly? The one that was coveted? The stolen home?”
The veteran actress described May Edochie’s former marriage as “a peaceful family that had been disrupted” and argued it was “ironic” for Judy to accuse others of trying to destroy a home when critics say she contributed to the collapse of Yul’s marriage to May.
Rita also defended Judy’s ex-husband, asking why social media users were demanding apologies from him while “ignoring the emotional pain he claims to have endured”. She added that people often dismiss another person’s suffering when not personally affected.
The Edochie family drama has played out publicly since 2022, when Yul announced Judy as his second wife amid his marriage to May. Rita, married to Pete Edochie’s younger brother Tony, has been May’s staunchest supporter. She’s previously accused Judy of “snatching” Yul and claimed Judy runs a WhatsApp group to pay social media users to attack her and May.
Judy maintains she met Yul on a movie set in 2016, three years post-marriage, and says she’ll prove Obasi’s claims false in court.
