“I Can’t Date Or Marry A Man Who Wants Me To Cook Regularly” — Mercy Eke Says

Reality TV star and entrepreneur Mercy Eke has stirred reactions online after saying she can’t be with a man who expects her to cook for him every day.

Speaking on the latest episode of Toke Moments with Toke Makinwa, Mercy Eke revealed that she wouldn’t date or marry a man who expects her to cook for him daily.

Mercy said she has no problem cooking once in a while, but she doesn’t want it to be an obligation in her home.

“I can’t date or marry a man who wants me to cook regularly,” she said. “I can cook, but it’s not going to be my full-time job in the relationship. We can get a chef, we can order food, we can take turns.”

Mercy Eke added that in 2026, women shouldn’t be boxed into one role just because they’re wives.

According to Mercy, marriage for her is about partnership, peace, and growth not traditional duties.

“I’m building businesses. I’m busy. If cooking every day is a deal-breaker for you, then we’re not compatible,” she explained. “I want a man who understands that and supports my hustle too.”

She also said she respects women who enjoy cooking daily, but that shouldn’t be the standard for everyone.
