“It Was Trending and Peer Pressure” – Mercy Eke Opens Up About Her BBL Journey

Big Brother Naija Season 4 winner and reality TV star Mercy Eke has sparked fresh conversations online after a resurfaced interview clip where she candidly detailed her decision to undergo a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) surgery in 2018.

In the video, Mercy revealed that her choice was heavily influenced by the prevailing trends at the time and peer pressure from her circle.

“I got a BBL because it was trending and there was a lot of peer pressure,” she shared. Despite already feeling confident with her naturally slim figure, she noted that her love for fufu as an African woman made her stomach appear a bit fuller, adding to her motivation.

The star admitted she kept the procedure a secret from her mother, fearing discouragement. “I didn’t tell my mum because I knew she would discourage me,” Mercy said.

She and two close friends planned and underwent the surgery together for moral support.

She also talked about the painful recovery process, “You can’t sleep on your bum for 14 days, and you’ll cry for the first 3 days from the pain… but look, it’s soft now.” Mercy emphasized that she did the procedure in Nigeria without thorough research on the doctor, attributing it partly to youthful ignorance.
