Nsala Soup
Nsala soup also called White soup is a soup that has its origin in
riverine area of Nigeria. It is rich in omega -6 and omega -3 fatty
acids, which is good for pregnant women and those intending to. Good
source of vitamins and minerals, rich in protein. Catfish in nsala soup
help to protect the heart, good for the muscle, it's also good for the
brain.
Ingredient
-1/2 tuber of yam
-500g of cat fish
-Chili pepper
-Seasoning
-50g Ground crayfish
-Utazi leaves (Crongromena ratifolia)
-Pound utazi pepper (optional)
-Salt to taste
-1kg Goat meat/beef
Method
Cut the catfish into small parts, remove the intestines. Wash the catfish
with hot water to remove the slimy substances on the outer skin, then
wash with cold water.
Put the catfish into the pot, add water, salt and seasoning add boil.
Peel the yam and cut into small parts, and boil. When the yam is cooked
and soft, pound the yam with mortar and pestle till a smooth paste is
formed.
Wash and cut the utazi leaves into tiny shreds. Utazi should be used
moderately because it has bitter taste, the benefit of it is for the
flavor and aroma.
To the cooked catfish, add the pepper, crayfish, utazi pepper and utazi
leave and stir well. Next add yam paste until you have put the quantity
you want and stir. Add seasoning, salt to salt and your meat.
Cover the pot and allow the contents to cook at high heat until the yam
paste dissolves and there is no seed found.
Serve.
