Teaching My Daughters Bellydance Will Expose Them to Unwarranted Male Attention - Korra Obidi Reveals

Korra Obidi, a Nigerian bellydancer, expresses hesitation about passing on her dance skills to her daughters.

Korra Obidi expressed her fear about teaching bellydance to her two daughters, June and Athena, whom she shares with ex-husband Dr. Justin Dean.

According to her, she is hesitant to teach her daughters bellydance because she fears it may attract unwanted male attention and objectification, potentially putting them in a vulnerable position.

"Should I teach my children how to bellydance? There are so many benefits of bellydancing. However, every time I try to teach my daughters, am plaque with ambivalence as to if this is a good choice.

Doing bellydance has its pros and cons. It definitely Exposes you to the male gaze and unwarranted inappropriate attention, however, never have I seen a better character builder and confident chisel for young women."

Although Obidi is torn about teaching her daughters belly dancing, she acknowledges it offers a mix of amazing benefits and some real concerns. She believes it's perfect for shaping strong, self-assured young women.
