Nigerian DJs Ban Burna Boy’s Music After Alleged Clash with DJ Tunez
The Nigerian DJ Association (NDJ) has issued a temporary ban on Burna Boy's music in DJ playlists across Nigeria and for its members abroad.
This follows a reported physical altercation involving Burna Boy and DJ Tunez (Wizkid's longtime DJ) at a private event in Lagos, reportedly at nightlife figure Obi Cubana's residence.
The incident reportedly occurred after DJ Tunez played Wizkid's songs instead of Burna Boy's, sparking a heated exchange that escalated into a fight. Burna Boy's people got involved, and security had to step in to break it up.
DJ Tunez later broke his silence, confirming aspects of the incident and stating he was hit at the back of the head, while Burna Boy's management hasn't issued an official statement.
The NDJ cited solidarity with its member,DJ Tunez, emphasizing that "respect is non-negotiable" for DJs, and announced the boycott of Burna Boy's tracks from playlists until further notice while they investigate.
