“Is It By Force to Spray?” — Peller Laments Fake Dollars Sprayed at Wedding

Popular Nigerian TikTok streamer and content creator Habeeb Hamzat, better known as Peller, has expressed shock and disappointment after discovering that most of the US dollar notes sprayed on him during his traditional wedding to Jarvis were counterfeit

The revelation came during a recent livestream, where the newlywed recounted taking the cash gifts to the bank only to be told that a significant portion of the foreign currency was fake. Reports circulating online put the amount of flagged counterfeit dollars at around $30,000.

“When I got to the bank, they told me the dollars were fake. People that gave me real money, I know them if I see them. They gave me fake dollars,” Peller said.

He admitted he left the August 1 ceremony in Lagos feeling like a millionaire and even filmed a celebratory video with the money, only to realise the truth later. “I got home after my wedding thinking I was a millionaire already. I used the money to make a video, saying, ‘Hello, thinking I am rich, but it was fake. You people did not notice I did not talk about the dollars again since last night. Is it by force to spray money?’” he added.

The Naira that was sprayed at the event was genuine, but the bulk of the dollars weren’t.

Peller noted that he knows which guests brought real currency versus the fake notes but has chosen not to name them publicly for now.
