Cause of Balogun market fire outbreak revealed
The cause of Balogun market has been revealed. The inferno started in the early hours of the morning, Wednesday, January 29. Balogun Ajeniye Market popularly known as Balogun market is located on Lagos island in Lagos State. The market cut across many streets on the island and is best known for fabrics and shoes.
According to the Senior Special Assistant(SSA), to the Lagos State Governor on News Media, Jubril Gawat, explained that the fire started after someone possibly a trader made an attempt to refuel his generator while it was still on, causing an explosion and affecting other buildings.

According to the Senior Special Assistant(SSA), to the Lagos State Governor on News Media, Jubril Gawat, explained that the fire started after someone possibly a trader made an attempt to refuel his generator while it was still on, causing an explosion and affecting other buildings.
The Spokesman, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency LASERA, Dr. Femi Oke_Osanyintolu made it known that seven buildings were affected while two of the affected building has collapsed.
"This fire has escalated to adjoining buildings totaling seven (7) in number and now is being contained by the Emergency responders-Lagos State Fire Service and the Federal Fire Service and NPA Fire Service. Seven buildings are affected and one has collapsed."
"All responders are on ground and progress is being made. We urge for calm and will provide further updates,” said Oke-Osanyintolu, LASEMA’s Director General.
Men of the state fire service are still at the scene to put out the fire which has crippled the usual activities in the market.
