“Everybody Dey Bill Me” — Carter Efe Gets Candid About Family Financial Pressure

 

The skit maker and ‘Machala’ crooner Carter Efe says he's tired and can't pretend anymore, that  being the family’s breadwinner is weighing him down.

The comedian took to social media to vent about the financial pressure that comes with being the family’s “successful one.” 

In a raw, now-viral clip, Efe said the constant billing from relatives is draining him mentally and financially.

“Before you see alert, dem don already share am for group chat,” he said, half-laughing, half-frustrated. “You be first son, you be last hope, you be CBN. Na me kill Jesus?”  

Carter Efe, real name Oderhohwo Joseph Efe, blew up in 2022 after his Machala- Wizkid tribute went viral and his Instagram skits started pulling millions of views. With brand deals, shows, and music royalties coming in, the 22-year-old became the face of “young and hammering” for a lot of fans. But with the fame came the family calls.  

“School fees, house rent, somebody business don fold, another one wan start POS,” he listed. “If you say no once, you be wicked. If you say wait, you don forget village people.”  

However, Efe said he’s learning to say no, even if it makes him the “bad guy.”  

“I love my people die. But if I crash, same people go say I no manage money well,” he said. “I dey work for my peace now. Make everybody hustle abeg.”  

He joked that he might start posting broke content just to get some rest, “Maybe if I do video say I dey trek, billing go reduce small.”
